Blog Post # 2

In this blog post I will be talking about the new models I learnt!:D

Firstly, there is the Addie model that has 5 basis analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate. Analyze is when you reevaluate your previous works and actions and brainstorm ideas to make it even better. Some examples might be rephrasing certain sentences or examples that most students do not seem to grasp so quick. Design relate to lesson planning and media selection and it also focus specific aspects of learning such as cognitive, psychomotor, and affective. Development refers to being creative, trying out new things, and then learning from them through critical analysis. Implement encourages using the new skills learnt and applying it in reality. Lastly, Evaluation, which is also one of the most important bases because it is the key to improving. Secondly, there is Gagne's 9 events of instruction which consist of (you guessed it) 9 foundation. It is founded by gaining attention, informing learning of objectives, stimulating recall of prior learning and then guiding the students' learning. Further, it elicit performance, provides feedback whilst assessing performance and improves rent ion and transfer of knowledge and learning. Thirdly and lastly is Keller's Arc Model which has four principals: attention, relevance, confidence and satisfaction. The first principal, attention, sparks the student's interest. The second principal, confidence, emphasizes positive expectations and success which sets the tone and encourages the students learning growth. The last principal, satisfaction, encourages and supports students' happiness and learning experience through positive reinforcements and rewards.

From observing and learning these three different teaching models, I've noticed that the Addie model follows the more traditional route of learning, assessing and evaluation. Gagne's 9 events of instructions hits on various learning styles and Keller's arc model focuses on the emotional wellbeing of the student. I personally lean more into the last two teaching models because as a student I love to learn in different ways to fully retain information and as a future educator I really take account of the student's wellbeing and how they are feeling. However, all three learning models are fantastic so I would incorporate a little bit of everything to my own teaching methods in the future.

I completely agree with your point about learning in different ways in order to retain information. I feel the same exact way. Awesome post!
